The Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a natural break in the barrier reef system that was assigned as a reserve to help protect the area from overfishing. It is now one of the most popular tours done by those visiting Ambergris Caye, and is considered a must do!
The trip is done in half day segments, departing our dock at the Bella Vista Resort at 8:15 am and returning slightly before lunch. Pick up times may vary if you are staying at another resort.
A 20 minute boat ride south of San pedro Town puts us in the heart of the reserve where our guides will escort you into the water, 30 ft deep at its max, and proceed to educate on the many underwater life forms as you navigate the barrier reef around the channel.
The tour includes two snorkeling stops with the second being Shark & Ray Alley. Here you will enjoy swimming with Sting Rays, Nurse Sharks and other Marine Life. Not to worry, the tour is completely safe and the sea creatures as well accustomed to human visits.
